Have you ever wondered what the FBI does? If so, you may be able to get an inside look.
The FBI Albany Field Office is looking for people to sign up for their Citizens Academy. They say anyone is encouraged to apply.
The academy is a six-week program that starts on September 15.
They will meet Wednesday evenings until October 20. The goal of the academy is to give people an inside look at what the FBI does.
There will be discussions and hands-on activities. Participants will learn how to dust for fingerprints and go through a firearms safety simulator.
Sarah Ruane is the public affairs specialist for the FBI field office. She says the program is a way for the FBI to connect with the community.
"I think this is the best program the FBI has, because the access is incredible, and the information that we arm people with, you know, it’s the real true behind the scenes look at how we do what we do, and I think it’s what everybody would love to have the opportunity to do and might not know that we provide that opportunity," said Ruane.
The deadline to sign up is July 9. You can apply online. Everyone who applies will have to go through a background check.
