About $60 million will go towards a new green resiliency grant program, Gov. Kathy Hochul said on Wednesday.
The program will fund infrastructure projects including green roofs, streets and permeable pavement.
It will also provide grants to flood-prone communities.
This funding will help advance her clean water and resiliency plan she announced in her state of the state this year, her office said.
“Extreme weather events have become a regular occurrence in our state, and strong and sustainable infrastructure is our first line of defense,” Hochul said in a statement. “We are aggressively reducing greenhouse gas emissions across New York, and simultaneously need to prepare for coming storms.”
