Police: Albany boy, 14, had loaded handgun

Albany teen facing gun charges

An Albany teen is facing gun charges for having a loaded gun.

A 14-year-old Albany boy is accused of possessing a weapon.

Police responded to the 100 block of Commerce Avenue around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a person with a weapon.

Officers stopped a group of people. Police searched the person’s bag and found a loaded 9mm handgun.

The boy’s name is not being released because of his age. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. He was released on an appearance ticket and due in Albany County Probation at a later date.
