Schenectady playground named for late-philanthropist Jane Golub
A Schenectady playground in now bears the name of one of its biggest supporters.
Schenectady Day Nursery paid tribute on Tuesday to its dearest friend and supporter, the late Jane Golub, with a special dedication ceremony naming the playground in her memory.
Golub became involved with the organization in 1992 and remained involved until her death in 2019. Her late husband Neil spoke about why his life loved the nursery so much.
“This institution has been so important to Schenectady, for so many years, and I think it’s kind of a hidden secret,” he said. “I wish more people knew about it and came to its aid to provide the kinds of things that it needs in order to be successful.”
Schenectady Day Nursery has offered affordable child care for more than 100 years to thousands of children of families who lived or worked in Schenectady.
