New store opens in Albany Stewart’s closed over crime concerns
New store to open at old Stewart's shops on Manning Boulevard.
A new store has taken over an old Stewart’s Shop that closed due to safety concerns.
The store on Central Avenue and Manning Boulevard in Albany is now a BuyRite Food Mart.
Stewart’s said last November it was closing the location because of the high number of robberies and threats of violence in the store.
NewsChannel 13 got data that showed police responded to 144 calls from April to October of 2023.
The store was the company’s most problematic location in Albany, according to a Stewart’s spokesperson.
