Ex-NFL star, Albany Empire owner Antonio Brown files for bankruptcy
Former NFL star and Albany Empire owner Antonio Brown has declared bankruptcy.
Brown owes nearly $3 million to eight different creditors, according to paperwork filed on May 15 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of Florida.
This includes a $1.2 million court judgment to Anton Tumanov. Tumanov worked for a moving company and sued Brown claiming assault, according to media reports.
Brown also owes nearly $970,000 to Zul Qarnain Natambu, who is listed as a “hip hop artist, filmmaker, fashion designer and financial freedom fighter,” according to his Facebook page.
Other debts Brown has include $312,000 to a marketing firm, $169,000 to a law firm and has about $83,000 on a credit card.
Brown took over as owner of the Albany Empire in March 2023. The team was kicked out of the National Arena League for not paying their mandated dues and fees that totaled around $22,000.
Brown last played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, memorably stripping off his shirt and leaving in the middle of a game.
