Two Troy men arrested on drugs and weapons charges
TROY, N.Y. (WNYT) – David Landfear and Landers Burton, both of Troy, face drugs and weapons charges after multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a search warrant at 398 10th Street on May 17.
Landfear, 38, had 66 grams of heroin, fentanyl, and suboxone. He also had 22.3 grams of methamphetamine. Burton, 24, had a .45 semi-automatic handgun in his possession, according to Rensselaer County Sheriff’s.
A 9mm semi-automatic handgun was also recovered from the second-floor apartment. Sheriff’s said charges for that weapon are pending.
The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office worked in conjunction with Troy Police detectives and ATF agents to make the arrest. “We would like to thank the ATF for their assistance in the search warrant execution and for their continued partnership in fighting gun crimes in Rensselaer County,” Sheriff’s said.
“The ATF remains committed to working hand in hand with our state, county and local law enforcement partners to hold accountable those who would distribute illegal narcotics into our communities while using firearms to intimidate and protect their criminal activities,” said Acting Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the ATF’s Albany Office, Mark Meeks.
Burton was charged with:
- criminal possession of a firearm
- 2nd degree criminal possession of a weapon
- 3rd degree criminal possession of a weapon
- tampering with physical evidence
Landfear was charged with:
- 2nd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- criminal possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell
- 3rd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
Both Burton and Landfear were arraigned in Troy City Court. Burton is being held in jail on $25K bail. Landfear was released to probation supervision.
