Suspicious person complaint leads to Cohoes man’s arrest
North Greenbush Police arrested a Cohoes man early Saturday morning after a receiving a complaint about a suspicious person.
A resident of the Swiss Acres neighborhood called police at around 3:30 a.m. to report a man on their property trying to get into their car. The person was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black baseball cap and was captured on surveillance video, police said.
Officers searched the area and found a man who matched the description, 48-year-old David Sousa, walking in the neighborhood. Sousa ran away but was arrested after a brief struggle, police said.
Sousa was charged with obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest and released to appear in court at a later date. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
Investigators are asking residents to report any thefts from vehicles or evidence that someone had gone through their car. Surveillance footage is also being sought. They should also lock their car doors and not leave anything valuable overnight.
Police do not know if Sousa is the same person who was the subject of a police warning last week.
