Victim of deadly Livingston arson identified; Girl, 15, charged
Police have identified the victim of a deadly fire at 2879 Route 9 in Livingston, Columbia County. He is Edmund W. Metz, 58. A 15-year-old girl set the fire on purpose, police said.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 1:15 p.m. for a report of people trapped inside. Metz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The girl, who is from Hudson, was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree arson. She was arraigned in Columbia County Court and sent to Columbia County Jail.
Police did not say how Metz and the girl knew each other.
The house was a second home on the property that was being rented out, the fire chief said.
