Malta wants to buy water utility

The town of Malta is looking to buy Saratoga Water Services Inc.

The company has entered into an agreement with the town of Malta to sell the water utility to the town.

The town says this will ensure that the drinking and potable water supply for more than 2,800 properties in Malta and Stillwater will remain under local control.

The Malta Town Board unanimously approved the sale back in January.

It will ultimately be decided by the community in a voter referendum scheduled for July 1.
