Albany County raising awareness of elder abuse, neglect

Albany County is making a commitment to protect its older adults from abuse and neglect.

World Elder Abuse Day is this Saturday, June 15.

The county’s Department of Social Services and Department for Aging planted a red oak tree along the

Albany County Rail Trail in Delmar near Adams and Hudson streets to mark the occasion.

That tree will serve as a reminder to protect and advocate for older adults in the community.

They are also encouraging everyone to wear purple on June 15 to commemorate the day.

More than 60,000 seniors live in Albany County.
