Man resentenced after Albany murder convictions tossed
A man who has already spent more than two decades in prison was resentenced on Thursday after his original conviction was tossed due to a tainted confession.
Alphonso Davis, 45, was found guilty of murder and attempted murder in 2001 in connection to a deadly shooting in Albany’s South End.
Those charges stemmed from evidence gathered by Det. Kenneth Wilcox, who has since been linked with three other cases that had tainted confessions.
A judge dismissed the convictions in March.
Davis pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 8 ½ years in prison, which he has already served.
