Woman accused of hitting Saratoga Springs cop with car charged with reckless endangerment, assault.

The woman accused of dragging a Saratoga Springs Police officer with her vehicle has been charged with assault and reckless endangerment.

Theresa Travis, 34, of Greenfield, is accused of striking the officer at around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Hayes and Geyser roads.

Police on Wednesday released the name of the officer as Sgt. Adam Dingmon. He was attempting to reach inside the vehicle during a traffic stop, when she took off, police said.

Dingmon, who has been on the job for 10 years, was treated and released and will be recovering at home for an extended period, police said.

Officers found the suspect’s car later that afternoon in Warrensburg at the Exit 23 McDonald’s after Travis was captured on video. Travis walked away from the scene in a northerly direction. Police knew she had a relative in that area.

In addition to the two felony charges, Travis is also facing violations of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and aggravated unlicensed operation.

She was arraigned Tuesday night and sent to Saratoga County Jail without bail. Travis has bench warrants out of both Saratoga County and Schenectady County courts.
