A Montgomery County man is accused of intentionally crashing his vehicle and injuring his passenger.

The crash happened on Old Fort Plain Road in the town of Canajoharie on Wednesday, June 19. Robert R. Shutts, 41, of Fort Plain, allegedly left on foot before police arrived, but police later found him.

Shutts also kicked a window of a patrol car, police said, which damaged the door and window.

Shutts was charged with reckless endangerment, assault, two counts of criminal mischief, aggravated unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and a violation of open container/consumption in a motor vehicle.

Shutts was arraigned at the Canajoharie Town Court and sent without bail to Montgomery County Jail.
