18-year-old Albany man arrested for having loaded handgun while meeting probation officer

Albany Police say 18-year-old Shascott Ham was arrested on Friday for having a loaded handgun while inside the Albany County Probation Department.

Ham was meeting with his probation officer around 2:50 p.m. Friday when the department discovered he had the handgun, said police.

Patrol officers found the handgun inside a bag belonging to Ham.

Police say Ham refused to follow officer’s commands initially, but he was taken into custody without further incident.

Ham was charged with one count of second-degree criminal possession and one count of resisting arrest.

Police say he was arraigned in Albany County Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
