Poughkeepsie man who traveled to Warren County for sex with child heads to prison

A Poughkeepsie man was sentenced on Thursday to 15 years in prison for traveling to Warren County to meet up with who he thought was an 11-year-old girl.

Aaron W. Scott had previously admitted that between April 1, 2022 and June 14, 2022, he sent sexually explicit messages to someone he believed was a girl. He then traveled to the area to meet the person, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Scott was arrested after arriving. He also had child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

He also must serve 25 years of post-release supervision, pay $3,000 to a victim whose images he possessed, and register as a sex offender.
