Police: Suspect in Columbia County was wanted for series of break-ins
A large police presence in Columbia County on Tuesday was connected to a suspect wanted for several break-ins.
This is all happened beginning at around 8 a.m. A Columbia County Sheriff’s deputy spotted Corey Hinz, 35, of Stuyvesant, traveling on an off-road vehicle in the town of Kinderhook. Hinz is a suspect in a burglary.
State Police joined in the search, which lasted around six hours. He was eventually spotted by a State Police helicopter and arrested by troopers and sheriff’s deputies on ATVs.
Hinz is facing a long list of charges, including burglary, reckless endangerment, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief, aggravated unlicensed operation, unlawful fleeing a police officer, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and driving while ability impaired.
