Lawmakers ask for federal help to cleanup from severe weather

Lawmakers are asking for national funding for Upstate New York, after severe weather ripped through the region this month, bringing several tornadoes to our area.

Rep. Elise Stefanik, along with the New York Republican Delegation, are requesting a Presidential Emergency Declaration for New York state.

They said it’s because of the damage caused by tornadoes, heavy rainfall, and winds that swept through the state on July 15 and July 16.

They are also asking for financial help from FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
