Attempted robbery leads to shooting in Albany

An attempted robbery led to a shooting at Pearl Discount and Beauty. No injuries were reported.

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) – An attempted robbery at Pearl Street Discount & Beauty on S. Pearl Street turned violent Wednesday.

The owner of the store showed us security footage of the moment a man in a red hoodie walked into his store just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The man attempting to steal cell phones while holding a gun wrapped in a black bag. That is when the owner said he went under the store’s counter to call 911. As he came up from under the counter, NewsChannel 13 saw the moment on surveillance video the suspect fired a gunshot at the owner.

“I ducked,” the owner said. “Thank God I didn’t get hit.”

The suspect fled the scene and there were no injuries reported.
