SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (WNYT) – A shooting on Charles Street in Schenectady left a woman dead Wednesday night.

Just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, Schenectady Police responded to a report that a female had been shot.

Once the officers arrived, they found the female suffering from gunshot wounds, and she was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers also found a male at the scene with serious injuries. He was detained and is now at a local hospital.

Police said there were also several children found inside the home who were unharmed and are now with their family.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide, they said.

The victim’s identity will not be released until the family has been notified.
