Altamont man sentenced to probation in contractor scheme

A man from Altamont who didn’t pay multiple subcontractors has been sentenced to five years of probation.

Aaron Godlewski admits he didn’t pay workers he had hired for his company.

He was arrested last year for issuing a bad check as a contractor with Godlewski Builders.

He was hired for multiple jobs and wrote a check from an account that didn’t have enough money.
Godlewski ran the scheme for two years.

According to information New York State Police released last year, one victim lost more than $140,000 in the scam.
