Albany County lawmakers want public meeting to discuss airport CEO

Report: Albany County Airport Authority Board searching for new CEO

Albany Airport leadership may soon change. The Times Union is now reporting the Albany County Airport Authority Board has hired a national executive search firm to find their next CEO.

Albany County Legislator Jennifer Whalen and Ryan Conway sent out a letter Friday, calling for the Albany County Airport Authority’s Board of Directors to hold a public meeting regarding the future of CEO Philip Calderone.

There’s been reports that Calderone’s contract will not be renewed in December. Now there’s a search for a new CEO.

The letter calls on board to explain the reasons behind their decision as they say Calderone has lead Albany International Airport “admirably” over the last five years.

They’re calling on the board to explain how they will proceed in their search to replace Calderone as CEO.

Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy may be eyeing the position, the Times Union reported.
NewsChannel 13 is waiting to hear back from both McCoy and Calderone.
