At least six flights were diverted to Albany International Airport, as a large storm hit parts of New York City on Monday.

Airport spokesperson Doug Myers says the diverted aircraft were headed for LaGuardia Airport and Newark Airport in New Jersey.

He says the planes will typically wait out the storm or wait for clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration before departing to their destination.
