Police: Vermont man had unregistered gun in Whitehall

A Vermont man is accused of possessing an unregistered handgun.

Wyatt C. Watkins, 26, of Rutland, allegedly had the gun on Saturday, Aug. 17 in the village of Whitehall, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said Watkins works for a private security firm in Vermont and was not licensed to carry in New York.

Watkins was charged with criminal possession of a firearm. He could face more charges, investigators said.

Watkins was released on an appearance ticket and is due in Whitehall Village Court at a later date.
