Forest rangers conduct training in Rensselaer County
Forest rangers received training on search-and-rescue techniques during a training over the weekend.
A basic wildland search class was held in Nassau’s new Wachoosick Park on Saturday. Twenty-five trainees from the fire departments, including Averill Park, Nassau, Hoags, Raymertown and Tsatsawassa, as well as Nassau Ambulance, Hudson Mohawk Search and Rescue, Adirondack Mountain Reserve, and the town of Nassau took part.
They discussed the initial response, different search techniques and clues to look for, finding the subject and wrapping up the operation.
