A Rensselaer County man is accused of threatening a person with a knife and choking them.

State Police responded to a home on Sunday, Aug. 25 for a report of an argument that turned physical. Joshua M. Lee, 32, of Johnsonville, allegedly displayed a knife, blocked the person’s breathing and restrained the victim.

Lee also took away the victim’s phone and prevented them from calling for help, investigators said.

The victim had minor injuries but was able to get away and call for help.

Police found Lee at his home. He was charged with two counts of criminal mischief, menacing, unlawful imprisonment, criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment.

He was arraigned in Schaghticoke Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
