Meeting erupts in chaos after Albany County lawmakers seek answers on airport’s future

Fireworks erupted at a meeting Wednesday evening as Albany County lawmakers tried to get answers about the future of Albany International Airport.

The airport’s future has been cloudy after CEO Phil Calderone was informed recently that his contract would not be renewed.

The topic of the meeting was to present the airport’s capital plan.

Legislators commended Calderone on his achievements as CEO.

When questions started to turn toward who would lead the airport in 2025, chaos erupted as lawmakers began shouting questions.

There were reports that Albany County Executive Dan McCoy planned to move over into the position. However, he said he will not accept the role.
