Federal grants to help Latham, Greenfield fire departments

More than $189,000 in federal grants will be given to two local fire departments.

This comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s “Assistance to Firefighters” grants program.

The Latham Fire Department is getting more than $97,000 and the Greenfield Fire District is getting more than $91,000.

These grants were secured by U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko.

The money will be used to buy new gear and equipment for both fire departments.
