Bethlehem cancels after school activities out of an ‘abundance of caution’
The Bethlehem Central School District has canceled all after school activities on Monday out of an abundance of caution.
There have been six threats made against the district. While there have been no new threats since Thursday, Sept. 12, the district said Monday’s cancellation is a precautionary measure.
The cancellation only applies to events on school grounds. Off-site athletic competitions are still taking place.
The district began the school week on Monday with additional police presence at the high school, middle school and elementary schools. There is also no outdoor recess or physical education.
There is also a bag check at the high school.
The district has been preparing classrooms in the event they need to offer hybrid learning. However, classrooms have not been configured for remote learning, the superintendent said last week.
