Troy man charged in Watervliet man’s fatal overdose
A Watervliet man is dead and a Troy man arrested for allegedly giving him drugs that caused an overdose.
Watervliet Police responded to the Highland Club Apartments on Aug. 30 for a report of a 56-year-old man who was found unresponsive.
The investigation led to the arrest of David S. Mathes, 27, who police said supplied the illegal drugs.
Mathes was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in Watervliet City Court and sent to the Albany County Jail.
Watervliet Police Chief William Rice said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
