Health care workers at Columbia Memorial Hospital are bringing attention to what they say is a critical staffing shortage.

Workers say the hospital is refusing to address the lack of staff and now the problem is affecting patients.

Employees want higher pay and more attractive benefits to recruit new staff, they said.

Workers spoke at a public hearing last month about what they said is mismanagement by the hospital.

The union is currently negotiating a new contract with Columbia Memorial.

An informational picket was planned for Wednesday.
