Witness: Squad car crash was like demolition derby
Two Albany police officers remain at Albany Medical Center. Two others have been treated and released.
Their injuries were the result of a violent collision involved two police squad cars late Wednesday afternoon.
The two teams of Albany police officers were on their way to assist fellow officers at a domestic call on the other side of town.
Unfortunately, the back-up teams never made it. They crashed at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Quail Street.
Albany police are withholding the identities of the injured officers for now. All four were treated for head injuries. Two of the officers sustained serious injuries.
Eyewitnesses to the crash said they’re not surprised to learn there were serious injuries, given the wreckage at the scene, combined with the loud sound made by the impact of the crash.
