Family remembers hero dad who died from 9/11-related cancer
He was bigger than life and ready to take any challenge head-on, but he couldn’t beat cancer.
Senior investigator Nick Georgeadis lost his battle to 9/11-related cancer last year.
His family sharing his story with NewsChannel 13’s Mark Mulholland for the latest recording of the UpBeat podcast from Kelly’s Angels.
They talked about his heroics on the job. That included pulling a man from a car before it exploded.
Georgeadis was also a hero dad to his three kids.
When he was dying, he wrote letters to all of his family, asking that they open them and read them on birthdays and other important milestones for years to come.
His father framed his letter and reads it every day.
Georgeadis’s family is honoring his legacy with a fundraiser this weekend to benefit Tunnel to Towers. It’s a 5K run/walk at Charles R. Wood Park in Lake George. Registration is at 9 a.m. The run starts at 10.
