Get ready for Smokey Bear Day.

The annual, family-friendly event is meant to teach people about fire and its role in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

There will be exhibits, goody bags, and chances to meet Smokey Bear.

It’s happening Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center, 195 New Karner Road, Albany.
