One person is dead after a suspected hit-and-run incident on Saturday morning in Stockbridge, according to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.

It happened around 6:44 a.m., when a report from a passing motorist was made regarding a person lying on the side of the road at around the 4.1 mile marker on Route 102, said officials.

Authorities say when emergency personnel got to the scene, they located an unresponsive male on the side of the road. He was pronounced dead shortly after by a Lee Ambulance paramedic.

The evidence collected thus far, including parts of a car, determined that this may have been a hit-and-run incident, said the DA’s office.

They said current evidence shows that the victim was riding an electric scooter when he was struck by a motor vehicle, and that the vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene.

Response to the incident included members of the Stockbridge Police Department, Stockbridge Fire and EMS and Lee Ambulance.
