Watervliet Police talk a person out of suicide

The incident happened Sunday on the Congress Street Bridge.

WATERVILET, N.Y. (WNYT) – Watervliet police officers were able to talk a man from jumping off the Congress Street Bridge Sunday afternoon.

Police said the distraught person was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities say the officers on the scene had advanced training on how to interact with people in crisis, which was helpful in this situation.
