Schenectady woman admits to stealing benefits from disabled children

A Schenectady woman has admitted to stealing over $25,000 in Social Security benefits intended for her disabled children.

Annmarie Ditoro, 42, pleaded guilty in federal court to multiple fraud charges.

Ditoro was receiving benefits on behalf of her four children. The Department of Social Services removed all of her children from her custody in July 2022. However, she did not inform the Social Security Administration of the change, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

She continued to receive the benefits and used the funds for personal expenses, prosecutors said.

Ditoro faces a potential term of 5 years in prison and $25,000 fine when sentenced on Jan. 31, 2025.
