IV fluid shortage likely after hurricane disrupts supply
IV shortage expected after Hurricane Helene disrupted supply.
Medical centers are preparing for an IV fluid shortage after the biggest manufacturer took a hit during hurricane.
Helene Baxter International’s biggest factory is in Western North Carolina.
The company put out a warning that it wouldn’t be able to fulfill orders indefinitely.
Hospitals confirmed to us that they have created teams to handle the shortage. They added that they do have a few weeks supply on hand and expect the government to step in while the factory gets up and running again.
