Three injured in head-on car crash in Savoy, MA

Our partners at The Berkshire Eagle tell us that three people were injured in a head-on car crash involving two SUVs on Friday morning in Savoy.

They tell us that one of the vehicles crossed the center line on Route 116 near Tomb Cemetery around 7:23 a.m.

In turn, the SUV crashed and caused one of the vehicles to roll over.

The Berkshire Eagle tells us that the driver of the rolled-over SUV had to be extricated by firefighters and they suffered serious injuries.

They say emergency responders attempted to take the driver via LifeFlight to Albany, but could not because of foggy conditions.

The other driver and the passenger of the seriously-injured driver’s vehicle suffered minor injuries.

All three injured were taken to local hospitals, said The Berkshire Eagle.

Savoy Fire Chief Peter Miner says the crash disrupted traffic for about a half hour and delayed commuters as they had to temporarily close the road.

The Berkshire Eagle tells us that the Massachusetts State Police are investigating the crash.
