Woman arrested in Guilderland for driving under influence of drugs with two children in the car

Guilderland Police say they arrested Erica A. Winters-Freehoffer, 45, of Lenox, MA on Saturday for driving while under the influence of drugs with two children in the car.

Police say they stopped a vehicle in the Walgreens parking lot at 2061 Western Avenue around 1:20 a.m. Investigation determined that Winters-Freehoffer was under the influence of drugs while operating the vehicle.

Two children passengers under age 16 were also present in the car, said police.

Guilderland Police arrested Winters-Freehoffer and charged her with the following:

• Driving while ability impaired by drugs
• Two counts of driving while ability impaired by drugs with a child in the vehicle (Leandra’s Law)
• Two counts of endangering the welfare of a child

Authorities say she was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and released on her own recognizance.

Police say she is due back in court at a later date, and both children were turned over to the custody of a family member.
