A new study led by researchers at the University of San Diego suggests graphic warning labels on cigarette packs fail to convince smokers who don’t want to quit to kick the habit.
Researchers randomly assigned 350 smokers who were not ready to quit to receive cigarettes in packages with graphic warning labels, blank labels, or standard packs.
Three months later, the smokers who got the warning packs had fewer positive perceptions about cigarettes, but were no more likely to quit than the other groups.
