UAlbany’s new supercomputer considered one of the best in the country

UAlbany has unveiled one of the smarter supercomputers in the United States.

As NewsChannel 13 reported earlier this week, the new AI system is a major leap forward in New York’s access to the world-changing technology.

It’s currently the most capable supercomputer within SUNY.

Gov. Kathy Hochul was at the unveiling, calling Albany a mecca for innovation.

“I said in my State of the State less than a year ago — less than a year ago — that whoever dominates the AI industry will dominate the next chapter of human history,” said Hochul.

“We know why superpowers like China are working overtime to dominate and build the next generation of supercomputers capable of making mass technological strides. But here in the United States, those supercomputers also exist.”

The supercomputer promises to be helpful to UAlbany researchers using AI to solve complex problems and advance public good.
