Old Bolton bridge demolished after state inspection

A bridge in Bolton that dates back more than 130 years has been demolished.

A Bolton bridge dating back more than 130 years has been demolished.

The county-owned Middleton Bridge over the Schroon River was demolished after a state inspection this year.

Warren County tried for three years to sell the bridge.

The Department of Transportation said it was time to take it down.

The bridge was built in 1890, but has been closed since 2009 because of serious safety issues.

The one-lane bridge connected the towns of Warrensburg and Bolton, and officials decided it was not worth repairing.

Plans are now underway to build a new bridge over the Schroon River.
