Solar Farm says “no obvious damage” from fire

We're hearing from the solar farm following a massive fire on Saturday night that broke out at the 38-acre farm.

A solar farm in Castleton said there is “no obvious damage” to the more than 17,000 solar panels at the farm following a massive fire.

The 38-acre farm is called the White River Farm is owned by Pure Sky Energy and caught on fire Saturday night.

Around 80 firefighters and 15 different fire departments responded to the fire, according to the Rensselaer County Public Safety’s office. Firefighters said the wind was so bad that the fire had spread into a ravine with a lot of debris in it.

Pure Sky Energy said that the electricity will remain off at the phone until all of the necessary safety precautions are taken.

NewsChannel 13 reached out to the farm for permission to go on the farm’s property to see the aftermath following the fire and the company declined our request.

The investigation into how the fire started remains ongoing.
