Trooper hit by vehicle on I-87 doing well after undergoing another surgery

The New York State Police tells us that Trooper Nicholas Abbondola, who was hit by a vehicle along with a tow truck driver on Saturday, Nov. 2 on the Northway in Colonie, has undergone another surgery.

Police tell us that Abbondola is doing well after that surgery.

Abbondola sustained multiple fractures from the incident.

Jason Guerin, 40, of Malta, faces multiple charges including driving while ability impaired by drugs and aggravated vehicular assault.

The tow truck driver, Brett M. Dempsey, 29, of Clifton Park, had more serious injuries than was previously reported by police. He was treated and released, police said in an update Sunday.
