Albany County leaders in the New York Power Authority cut the ribbon Wednesday on the county's first major solar ground mount.

Albany County leaders and the New York Power Authority cut the ribbon Wednesday on the county’s first major solar ground mounted array.

This project will generate enough power for 270 homes, according to county leaders.

It’s going to provide electricity for Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Complex, the county office complex and other buildings to help offset energy costs.

The solar farm is at the corner of Watervliet Shaker Road and Airline Drive in Colonie.
