Ex-Troy man gets probation in Berkshire County theft ring
A former Troy man has received probation for his role in an organized theft ring in Berkshire County.
Angel Nunez, 57, pleaded guilty in Berkshire Superior Court to 15 charges related to three visits he made to Berkshire Bank locations in 2023. He attempted to fraudulently withdraw money on June 23, June 26 and July 10, according to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors had requested two years in the House of Corrections and the defense sought house arrest. The judge imposed 2 years of probation with the condition that he not commit a crime.
Nunez had a serious medical event while awaiting trial, according to the DA’s Office. Because of his condition, he cannot be housed at the House of Corrections.
