Motorcycle crashes on Central Avenue during meeting discussing road’s safety
A motorcycle crashed on Central Avenue in Colonie early Wednesday evening.
The crash happened near the intersection with Marjorie Road.
Lanes in that area were closed for a time, but it has since reopened.
It’s not clear yet what caused the crash or if anyone was hurt.
This was at least the second crash to happen on Central Avenue on Wednesday.
A 72-year-old man was hit by a car near the Dunkin’ Donuts at King Avenue, earlier in the day.
This all comes on the same night a meeting was held at Midway Fire Department to discuss safety in that area, after dozens of deadly crashes.
The project wants to reimagine the corridor, which carries 23,000 people every day between Schenectady and Albany. The study that there are very few marked crosswalks. There are also concerns about speeding and the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
