Consumers, workers rally against changes to home care program
Rally held at the Capitol for disability advocates are concerned about outsourcing oversight of the Consumer Directed Home Care program to a Georgia company.
Disability advocates, including home care consumers and workers, held a rally in Albany’s West Capitol Park Wednesday in support of New York’s Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program.
Gov. Kathy Hochul does not have their best interests in mind and plans to “outsource” the program to a Georgia-based company, they said.
Organizers of the rally said that this change puts the program and health care of thousands of elderly and disabled people at risk.
NewsChannel 13 reached out to the governor’s office but has not heard back.
