DEC: Jennings Creek fire to be contained by the end of weekend
The Jennings Creek fire is expected to be fully contained by the end of the weekend, according to the Department of Environmental Conservation.
The fire near the New York-Jersey border is holding at 90% contained and 80% controlled. About 40 total firefighters are on scene including some from Montana, addressing hot spots.
The rain on Thursday and snow on Friday has helped buy time for the operation by putting down smoke and makes leaves, tree and debris unable to burn.
